Go High-End, With Buying Fine Wines At Auction

If you have deeper pockets, and are looking for a fine wine gift for an oenophile, consider taking the time out to attend a rare wine auction and buy a bottle (or two, or a case) of wine with some history and a story!

One fantastic place to look is at the auctions put on by Skinner, Inc. a high-end auction house in Boston (also follow them on Twitter – @skinnerinc).

You could also try finding a fine wine at auction online at winebid.com, or at another of the world’s finest auction houses, Sotheby’s (online and in major cities across the globe – and on Twitter @sothebys).  Or, just Google “wine auctions” and find one that works for you.

Happy hunting!!

A Case of Chimay Blue Grande Reserve!

Two Of My Favorite Wine Racks! Loaded & Ready To Serve.

These two vintage-style wine racks, with a converted-from-military-to-civilian-use theme, look so cool and I wish I had them! Since my wife sees better uses for our money (um, I mean WE see), I’ll have to hope that I get one of these as a gift, or that this website starts bringing in some extra cash.

Ammunitions Case Wine Rack ($325 @Uncommon Goods)
Serving a very different function on this tour of duty, a vintage ammunitions box is re-imagined as a rustic wine rack. Dating from the 1960′s to the 1970′s, the box seems custom made for its more peaceful responsibility of caring for your bottles of vintage reserve. Openings cradle the bottlenecks, allowing for proper side storage, as the aged wood of the trunk brings an eclectic element to your home. Manufactured in the Canada.

Ammunitions Case Wine Bar ($300 @Uncommon Goods)
Make drinks, not war with this Vietnam-era artillery case that was salvaged and renovated into a peaceful and rustic-looking wine bar that holds 3 bottles, 6 glasses and still has space for tools. Closed, it is a rugged and nostalgic decorative box; open, it finds purpose as a functional serving station. The perfect gift for wine enthusiasts or anyone looking to add a unique twist to the average bar. Manufactured in the Canada. Click here to see the Capri wine glasses shown in the wine bar.
